Farmington Welcomes You!
Consider yourself officially welcomed! After touring this site, you’ll discover that our small Iowa town has a rich history but is also a progressive community with a promising future.
Visitors to Farmington, and Van Buren County, are struck by the unique beauty of the area and the atmosphere of being set apart from the rush of the every day world. Farmington is nestled in a peaceful valley at the southern edge of Van Buren County. The Des Moines River borders one side of the town, while the rolling hills and steep ridges of Shimek Forest encircle the other sides.
Of course, if you are already one of our lucky residents you know much of what we had hoped to tell you. But we hope this site will be a valuable addition to local residents and visitors alike.
Please take a few moments to check out our new web site and if you are new to this area . . please plan to visit us in person soon!

IMPORTANT NOTICES:
Corona Virus Update:
City Hal is once again closed for in person business. There is a drop box available to the left of the door and you may call (319)878-3711 for assistance. Library continues to be open, with restrictions. Indian Lake Park is also completely open for use. We ask that you continue to keep social distancing in place at the local businesses and among groups that are not in the same campsites/families and to use proper personal hygiene and if you are sick or have been in contact with others who are sick or COVID positive, please stay home. The Legion is also open and taking customers at this time but The Bridge Cafe is still order out only. Thank you all for being such a patient community. With all of us working together, so far we have stayed safe with minimal local numbers of illness. Let's keep it up and keep safe.
Attention Farmington Residents:
Many of us have limbs and trees that may be in need of removal from the last storm, the City will get to the piles as soon as possible but may be delayed due to Bryan being very busy with the water project and daily maintenance in town. Residents are allowed to take their own limbs or trees to the city dump with the stipulation that no tree can be drug on the city streets, to avoid causing damage to the street surface. Reminder ONLY yard waste (trees, limbs, and brush) are allowed. The yard waste pick up this month is scheduled for Thursday, August 20th, however, you are asked to have it curbside by Wednesday, August 19. Due to scheduling conflicts, it may take a few days to get everything picked up. Yard waste needs to be placed on the edge of your property to be picked up. If you have any questions please call City Hall 319-878-3711 during regular business hours Mon-Fri 8am -12pm 1pm-4pm
